If you are someplace where you can see 20 residents of the District of
Columbia, chances are one of them is HIV-positive. If you're someplace
where you can see 50 D.C. residents, it's likely one of them has AIDS.

And eight out of every 10 people in D.C. who are HIV-positive or have AIDS
are African American.

Even more shocking, as many as one-third of the people who are HIV-positive
don't even know it.

Tuesday, Feb. 7, was National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. It was an
opportunity to remind our community that HIV/AIDS is a killer and it's
stalking African Americans.
