Meeting composer Ann Malik can be anything but dull. For one, its hard to
keep a straight face as he sincerely, very sincerely, tells you that he did
not invent plagiarism, and that many respected composers, including the big
names in the 1950s, also did the same.

But just as you are about to tell him that unlike him, the likes of S.D.
Burman and Madan Mohan lifted a few tunes now and then, Malik will tell you
with a poker face "I have copied the least number of songs compared to
other composers." So convinced is he of his opinion that you don't have the
heart to challenge him, never mind that his track record is littered with
examples of straight lifts.
