The Success of Nurturing Education in Schools

In many local Jewish circles, kids have gone from asking, "Why do I have to
go to Hebrew school?" to enthusiastically expressing an eagerness to
attend.

This reversal in attitude among Philadelphia-area Jewish youth is being
attributed to "Nurturing Excellence in Synagogue Schools," a three-year
pilot program, now in its last year. Six area congregational supplemental
schools are participating. NESS was designed by the Auerbach Central Agency
for Jewish Education, a Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia community
partner.
