DA Investigates Brown's Downtown "Sideshow"

Mayor Jerry Brown, running hard to become the next state Attorney General,
is being investigated by District Attorney Tom Orloff after an incident
involving an African-American woman at a popular downtown Oakland
nightclub.

Accounts of what occurred on Saturday March 4 vary according to witnesses.

Some say the mayor was only trying to resolve a heated exchange, fueled by
too much drinking. Others say he may have used improper comments.

And because the incident involved Blacks, race has been injected. This all
