Former Child Soldier Of Africa To Tour Bay Area

In many African nations, children are often recruited to carry weapons and
fight in wars.

Chernoh Alpha Bah of Sierra Leone will be speaking about his experiences
when he tours the Bay Area, April 9-14.

The former child soldier and award-winning journalist was imprisoned for
exposing human rights violations in the treatment of West African refugees.
He will speak on "Diamond Wars, Child Soldiers and the Worldwide Movement
for African Liberation."

At 12, Mr. Bah, now 27, was forced into the Sierra Leone army as one of the
infamous child soldiers. Along with thousands of other children, Chernoh
was made to fight in the civil war that devastated the region in the 1990s.
