Rev. Haynes Praises Program For At-Risk Black Youth

Urging African Americans to "move more dirt to get to the gold" and rescue
at-risk Black youths, Rev. Frederick D. Haynes praised the work being done
by an East Oakland church-run program.

Haynes, senior pastor at the 8,000-member Friendship-West Baptist Church in
Dallas, was keynote speaker at the second annual Bay Area Prayer Breakfast
last Saturday. The breakfast was hosted by Center of Hope Community Church
to honor its programs for young people: The Potter's House and Project
Rise.

Project Rise uses education, training, and counseling to "empower and
encourage" at-risk youths.
