For the past 20 years, native San Antonian Margie Yanez has shown
compassion for individuals in need.
Spearheading numerous benefit dances for past and present musicians across
the city including legends like Randy Garibay, Spot Barnett, Felix
Villarreal and Jack Barber, Yanez has volunteered a large portion of her
life to helping others through difficult times in their lives.
"There is a lot of planning that goes into doing benefits for these
musicians," said Virginia Schramm Garibay, wife of late San Antonio Chicano
blues legend Randy Garibay. "She knows how to get things done."
Starting in the mid-80s, Yanez, 72, began taking a leadership role ...
