Homeland Security Secretary of Defense Michael Chertoff addressed a packed
room of business leaders and city dignitaries about the cooperation needed
on both sides of the border in order to deter border violence, illegal
immigration needs and increase free trade between the United States and
Central and South America.

"We have to regain control of the border and we cannot continue to have an
environment in which border violence flourishes," he said..
