Qld: Three new helicopters for Queensland

BRISBANE, June 3 AAP - Queensland's emergency services will receive three new state
of the art helicopters, Premier Peter Beattie has revealed in his latest state budget
preview.

The new helicopters form the centrepiece of the 2006-07 Emergency Management Queensland
(EMQ) budget, which will be announced this coming Tuesday, Mr Beattie said.

Of the $64 million budgeted to EMQ, formally called the Counter Disaster and Rescue
Service, $48.3 million will be spent over four years on replacing the current Queensland
Rescue Bell 412 helicopter fleet with new Augusta AW 139 helicopters.
