Bar Council welcomes judicial commission

KUALA LUMPUR: A judicial commission would be a welcome legacy for future generations, Bar Council chairman Yeo Yang Poh said yesterday.

"The Prime Minister has been open and positive by promising to consider a judicial commission to investigate allegations of corruption among judges," he said.
"The Bar hopes the scope of the commission can be expanded to include the selection, appointment and promotion of judges."

Yeo said having a "holistic" commission on the conduct of judges and the administration of justice would make the process far more transparent and accountable than at present.
