Fed: Murray reflects on Democrats' woes

PERTH, July 7 AAP - Outgoing Australian Democrats senator Andrew Murray says his party's
leadership woes and inability to convey clear messages have left its political future
in doubt.

Senator Murray announced earlier this week he would not stand for re-election beyond
the end of his current term, which ends in June 2008.

One of only four remaining Democrats in federal parliament, Senator Murray disclosed
his decision in a letter to party members as nominations for West Australian Democrats
preselection closed.
