(The Diamondback) (U-WIRE) COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Israel Vibration vocalists Cecil "Skelly" Spence and Lascelle "Wiss" Bulgin met in a rehabilitation center in Jamaica while seeking medical care for polio. They found comfort and spiritual enlightenment in the Rastafarian movement and began composing songs together, combining beautiful vocal harmonies with reggae roots.
The band began its recording career in 1976 in Jamaica. But Jamaica's music scene was littered with suspect accounting practices and little tour support. Spence and Bulgin broke up the band in 1983 to move to the United States for better medical care and to begin solo careers.
