Vic: Oil price rises fuel argument for public transport
MELBOURNE, Aug 9 AAP - Public transport advocates are warning the government's plan
to introduce ethanol in fuel will not stop petrol prices from rising.
Daniel Bowen, of the Victorian Public Transport Users Association (PTUA), also said
cutting petrol tax would be akin to "bailing out a sinking ship with a teaspoon".
The PTUA has lodged a submission to the Senate petrol price inquiry calling on all
levels of government to prioritise the expansion and coverage of urban and regional public
transport.
