Patrons of ?ed Heat? a local bar, drinking under banners with the Soviet hammer & sickle. In Transdniester, nostalgia for the USSR runs very high.
Transdniester is a breakaway republic within Moldova. Although unrecognised by the international community since their independence in the early 90s, they have acquired their own passports, army, customs service, currency, constitution and president. But the surreal country is also accused of being a front for organised crime, and stands as a living memorial to Brezhnev-era Soviet Union.
