ON A DAY when fears of exploding planes were splashed across front pages, a shamed Auckland man has suffered the consequences of having a bad-taste joke blow up in his face.
The timing of Ewan Henry Lawrence Patience's appearance in Wellington District Court yesterday was not lost on his lawyer or on Judge Cecilie Rushton. "Not an auspicious day," the judge said. Lawyer Greg King said it was "shocking timing".
