Crik: Aussies want Aussie umpires for Ashes

LONDON, Aug 27 AFP - Australia want their own umpires to stand in the Ashes series
despite International Cricket Council (ICC) guidelines that both on-field officials should
be neutral.

The Australians believe that the best umpires are Australian and that includes Darrell
Hair, the official at the centre of the ongoing row over alleged Pakistan ball-tampering.

Peter Young, Cricket Australia's head of communications, believes the top two men in
the ICC ratings should be entrusted with making the decisions in the Ashes series and
that would mean two Australians being appointed.
