NSW Opp promises 300 new highway patrol officers

SYDNEY, Dec 3 AAP - The NSW opposition has promised to boost highway patrol numbers
by one-third, following the death of another P-plate driver on the state's roads.

A 21-year-old Tahmoor man was killed last night when his Holden veered onto the wrong
side of Picton Road at Picton, south-west of Sydney, and collided with a four-wheel drive.

The man's death brings the number of P-platers killed on the state's roads this year
to 49, double the number who died last year.

NSW Opposition Leader Peter Debnam said the crash highlighted the need for more police
on the state's roads.
