'Free EC Day' draws hundreds ; Planned Parenthood clinics in Maine and elsewhere offer free emergency contraception.

Each paper bag contained a handful of freebies such as condoms and a coaster. But the hot item, the one that drew women to Planned Parenthood sites around Maine Wednesday, was a packet of two pills which, when taken together, are powerful enough to prevent pregnancy in an emergency.
Jessica Hovey, a 23-year-old sales associate, asked for a free emergency contraception kit that would have cost her up to $45 at a pharmacy.
