In the previous column, we talked about how metabolic changes brought about by the effects of hormones of pregnancy can lead to gestational diabetes (GDM).
This is a serious condition that arises when a pregnant woman who is not known to have diabetes before, has higher blood glucose levels than women with normal pregnancies.
