(The Collegiate Times) (U-WIRE) BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Virginia Tech and Carilion announced a partnership Monday afternoon to place a new medical school in Roanoke, Va.
"The school is going to level the scientific expertise of Virginia Tech...and the clinical expertise of Carilion to train physicians," said Governor Tim Kaine.
The new medical school will be part of Carilion's Riverside Center redevelopment plan near Roanoke Memorial Hospital and the old Victory Stadium site.
"The medical school being announced today is a unique mode," Kaine said."It's a small school."
