Fed: Govt urged to join UK court fight over Aboriginal remains

SYDNEY, Feb 17 AAP - The federal government is being urged to join a legal fight to
stop scientists carrying out tests on Aboriginal remains being held in London.

Britain's Natural History Museum last November agreed to return the remains of 18 Aborigines
to Australia.

However, it has delayed the handover of most of the remains - those of 17 Tasmanian
Aborigines - for the past three months so it could carry out scientific tests on them.

The Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre (TAC) this week won an interim injunction in London
to stop the museum testing the bones and skulls of the 17 ...
