TANJONG plc, a power and gaming firm, is buying seven power plants abroad from CDC Globeleq Holdings Ltd for US$493 million (RM1.67 billion) to grow its business.
The deal, which covers plants in Egypt, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, is being done by its 55 per cent unit, Pendekar Energy (L) Ltd, it said in a statement to Bursa Malaysia yesterday.
This means that Tanjong will finance 55 per cent of the purchase price or US$271 million (RM919 million) while its Saudi Arabia partner, Aljomaih Automotive Co will pay the rest.
