Acting police chief has `full powers'

KUALA LUMPUR: An acting state police chief is vested with the same power, authority and responsibilities as that of an appointed police chief.
This was the response from Bukit Aman on the stinging criticism from the Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Johari Baharum.
Johari had accused the police of "poor planning" for failing to fill the vacant Kuala Lumpur police chief's position for the past six months.
In an immediate response, federal police in a statement said proper procedures had to be followed before appointing a state police chief.
