(The Daily Universe) (U-WIRE) PROVO, Utah -- BYU's Daily Universe brought home second place for the overall best newspaper in its division from the Utah Headliners Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists on Friday night.

Eight staff members at the paper won individual awards, and one BYU communications faculty member received a special award.

John Hughes, a professor in the Communications Department, received the Service to Journalism Award for his work as a former publisher of the Deseret Morning News. The award was presented to Hughes by the SPJ chapter president Ben Winslow.
