Haier Merges Sanyo's Largest Refrigerator Plant
QINGDAO, Jun 26, 2007 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Haier Group, China's leading white goods manufacturer, has signed an agreement with Japan-based Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. to merge its largest refrigerator plant in Thailand. After the merger, Sanyo will retreat from the manufacturing of refrigerators.
From now on, Sanyo will entrust the plant to produce refrigerators under its brand as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and the Japanese giant will supply the products to the Japanese and the global markets. The plant is said to have an annual output of about 1 million units.
