Qld: Terror laws unfair to detainee, says civil libertarians

BRISBANE, July 10 AAP - Lawyers for Gold Coast doctor Mohamed Haneef should be allowed
access to the evidence against him, civil libertarians say.

Dr Haneef has been held without charge under federal counter-terrorism powers since
he was arrested at Brisbane airport in a late night swoop by police on July 2.

The Indian-born Muslim was arrested in connection with the bungled terrorist attacks
in London and Glasgow, as he tried to leave Australia with a one-way ticket to Malaysia
eight days ago.

Last night, a Brisbane magistrate allowed police to hold Dr Haneef for another 48 hours,
