Destroying trees the only `effective way to beat papaya viruses'

JOHOR BARU: Destroying them is the only way to stop two plant diseases that have been wreaking havoc on papaya trees in the state.
Johor Agriculture Department director Adnan Mat Kasim said this was the only effective way to beat the papaya ring spot virus (PRSV) and the die-back bacteria.
"Even after the trees are cut, no replanting should be allowed in the next six months.
"I know this is a painful thing to do but there is no other alternative," he said.
