Qld: Police officer's death a tragedy: Beattie

BRISBANE, July 19 AAP - The fatal shooting of a police officer in Brisbane demonstrates
the dangers of the job, Queensland Premier Peter Beattie says.

A police officer aged in his 30s was shot dead after he and another officer were sent
to a Regan Street home in the northern Brisbane suburb of Keperra about 10.50pm (AEST)
yesterday to speak to a man about a warrant for breaching bail conditions.

The officer was shot shortly after arriving.

His partner was not physically injured.

Police said two women and two children were safely released from the address during
the incident and the women were ...
