KUALA LUMPUR: The infamous Jelapang toll plaza near Ipoh will finally be shut down in April.
The plaza, which has the highest number of accidents and fatalities among all toll plazas in the country, will be replaced with a new one, to be known as Ipoh North, some 800 metres away from the present hilly location.
The relocation is part of a RM1 billion project to further improve the quality of the 15-year-old North South Expressway, and will include the widening of certain stretches from two to three lanes and upgrading of rest and relax (R&R) areas.
