High-tech security makeover -- Bergen Courthouse stresses safety

The aging Bergen County Courthouse is hardly considered cutting edge, but in the next few months it will have one of the most advanced security systems in the nation, officials say.

Prisoners brought into the Hackensack building for court proceedings will be tracked by a shortwave device, much like a plane on a radar screen. In case of an emergency, sheriff's officers will be able to immediately lock down some or all of the building.
