Dodgers castoff Brett Tomko pitched six innings, rookie Kevin Kouzmanoff delivered two hits and the Padres won their season-high seventh in a row, 6-3, over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday in San Diego.

Trevor Hoffman pitched the ninth for his 40th save in 45 chances, extending his own MLB record to nine seasons with 40 or more saves. His 522 career saves are the most in the majors.
