INTERNATIONAL: Rwandan doctor 'was key' to Tutsi slaughter

A Rwandan doctor granted British citizenship is accused of being a key organiser in the 1994 genocide in which ethnic Tutsis were slaughtered in their thousands, a court was told yesterday.

City of Westminster Magistrates' Court in London heard that Dr Vincent Bajinya, 46, is considered a "category one offender" by prosecutors in Rwanda investigating genocide and crimes against humanity.
He is one of four men facing extradition from Britain to Rwanda under a special diplomatic deal between the two governments signed nine months ago.
