(The Daily Athenaeum) (U-WIRE) MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Canadian director David Cronenberg gained infamy from his distinctive film style in the '70s and '80s.
Science fiction thrillers like "Videodrome" and his remake of "The Fly" established Cronenberg as a director who had a strong message about humanity versus technology, bundled up in a distinctly grotesque package.
But most recently, his films have departed from his typical faire and moved more toward true crime, such as his latest film "Eastern Promises."
Luckily, the shift only reaffirms the fact that Cronenberg is one of the most talented directors working right now.
