Fed: Commuters choosing not using public transport

CANBERRA, Oct 10 AAP - Australians are refusing to use public transport simply because
they don't want to, a survey by a leading insurer has found.

In Sydney, a city seemingly always in the grip of a public transport meltdown, just
20 per cent of commuters use trains, buses, trams and ferries and that's the highest percentage
nationwide.

The lowest is in Darwin where seven per cent of commuters use public transport.

The figures are contained in the 2007 AAMI Crash Index.
