Fed: ACT horse owners protest over exlusion from vaccinations

CANBERRA, Oct 12 AAP - Recreational horse owners have protested outside a Canberra
racecourse against race horses being given priority in the equine influenza (EI) vaccination
program.

About 30 people demonstrated outside the city's Thoroughbred Park while horses in racing
stables received inoculations with the vaccine, a racing website reported.

The ACT government has allocated 700 doses for thoroughbreds, harness racing horses
and what it calls high-value equestrian horses.

Protest spokeswoman Julia McLean said placing value on a horse was a subjective judgment.
