Fed: Man wrongfully detained wants to remain in Australia

SYDNEY, Nov 13 AAP - A Vietnamese man stabbed and beaten while wrongfully detained
for five years has taken legal action after months of failed negotiations with the Immigration
Department.
Tony Tran, 35, who is seeking to rebuild his life with his nine-year-old son in Melbourne,
is demanding an apology and compensation from the federal government.
"I continue to suffer ongoing physical and psychological health issues and I am receiving
medical treatment," Mr Tran told AAP in a statement.
