(Daily Evergreen) (U-WIRE) PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Washington State University Faculty Senate on Thursday removed a rule that required students to earn a bachelor's degree before a receiving a doctorate in veterinary medicine.

"Students no longer are required to earn a B.S. or B.A. degree prior to receiving their [doctorate of veterinary medicine] degree," said Bryan Slinker, professor and chairman of the Department of Veterinary and Comparative Anatomy, Pharmacology and Physiology.

WSU and Cornell University were the only two of 28 universities that required a prior bachelor's degree to achieve a doctorate in veterinary medicine.
