TOKYO, Nov. 14, 2007 (IPS/GIN) -- Japan's vocal capital
punishment lobby is bracing itself for embarrassment on the
international stage, as the U.N. prepares to vote on a worldwide
moratorium on executions.
Japan is now conspicuously the only major rich industrialized
nation with a fully operational capital punishment system.
In September, the United States Supreme Court agreed to review
the legality of lethal injections, the country's main execution
