On November 6th, 2007, "the eighth wonder of the world," released his tenth record in an attempt to redeem himself from the lackluster effort made on 2006's Kingdom Come.
American Gangster is the narrative of an inner city struggle; however, the main message listeners leave with is irrelevant to that of the story. Sure, the concept allows for morals and universal truths to be expounded upon, but instead of bravely exploring this unnatural territory for hip-hop, Jay-Z stuck with his usual self-glorifying style.
