Judiciary December 4, 2007 Introduction Chairman Leahy, Ranking Member
Specter, and distinguished members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, thank
you for the opportunity to appear today to discuss the Drug Enforcement
Administration`s (DEA`s) ongoing efforts in establishing an appropriate
system that allows electronic prescribing to be used for controlled substances
while ensuring adequate safeguards are in place to prevent the diversion
