QLD: Govt hopes Japan baseball team visit will inspire tourists

BRISBANE, Dec 14 AAP - The Queensland government hopes a legendary Japanese baseball
team will sell the Gold Coast's tourism message to Japanese travellers.
The Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters have chosen the Gold Coast to celebrate their 2007
Japan Pacific Baseball League series win with family and friends on a six-day holiday.
Tourism Minister Desley Boyle said the news was good for the state, which had been
struggling to attract Japanese tourists in recent years.
"Baseball is the number one sport in Japan - it's incredibly popular," Ms Boyle said.
