Rich (Goose) Gossage won election to the Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday, becoming only the fifth relief pitcher ever chosen for baseball's highest honor.
Gossage, known for his overpowering fastball and bushy mustache, received 466 of 543 votes, or 85.8 percent, from 10-year members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. It was his ninth time on the ballot.
