(The Crimson White) (UWIRE) TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- It was the Saturday before Christmas, and I was out with my mom doing some last minute shopping at University Mall. Getting to shop with my mom is one of those rare joys in life. She and my dad live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, so Christmas is one of the few times during the year I get to see them.

Mom and I were finishing up shopping at The Limited when I decided to leave and buy my brother something in American Eagle. The mall was packed with people. To get through the food court, I had to weave through crowds of high school kids and moms pushing strollers loaded down with bags.
