Article: UC system may lose $100 million in state funding

(The California Aggie) (UWIRE) DAVIS, Calif. -- A sum of $100 million in state funding may be cut from the UC system next year, according to a proposed budget released from the governor's office Jan. 11. The cut, which amounts to a 3 percent reduction in state funding from last year, could affect student fees and UC programs statewide.

"There is some chance that regions would want to make up that [$100 million] loss by increasing student fees," said Tom Timar, professor of education and director of the UC Davis Center for Applied Policy in Education.
