Article: Kansas State U. starts program to help students overcome prejudice

(Kansas State Collegian) (UWIRE) MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Kansas State University's Carla Jones has lurked in the shadows of students' lives, giving them guidance and a listening ear for several years.

"I don't do it for glory. I do it for service," said Jones, senior associate dean of student life.

Jones is heavily involved on campus but in a discreet way: by helping others.

In her position, she is primarily responsible for helping students adjust to K-State.

She talks with students about a wide range of topics, from family issues to academic and financial problems and relationship break-ups.

"I try to get students to the right resources," Jones said.
