The Japanese government has told the sumo authorities to put their house in order in the wake of high-profile arrests that have cast a shadow over the sport.
On Thursday, the police in Aichi, central Japan, arrested Tokitsukaze, the former head of a sumo gym, on suspicion of assault in connection with the death of a 17-year-old wrestler last year. Three sumo wrestlers were also arrested.
