NSW: Judge directs acquittal in love bomb case
SYDNEY, Feb 29 AAP - A jury has been directed to acquit a Sydney couple accused of
conspiring to detonate a bomb in a popular city nightspot.
Hussan Kalache, 28, and his 27-year-old girlfriend Jill Allison Courtney were standing
trial in the NSW Supreme Court over an alleged plot to set off a car bomb in Kings Cross
in 2005.
Courtney allegedly agreed to plant a bomb in exchange for a promise of marriage from Kalache.
The prosecution mounted its case on a series of phone conversations between the pair
intercepted from Lithgow prison, where Kalache was serving a term for murder.
