(Daily Nebraskan) (UWIRE) LINCOLN, Neb. -- Peter van der Westhuizen had one final chance to make nationals. On Saturday, the Nebraska senior ran like he'd never ran before.
Van der Westhuizen, running the mile in Seattle, finished with a time of 3:59.05.
It was a personal best for van der Westhuizen and enough to get him an automatic entry into the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., next week.
"We were working toward that time the whole year," van der Westhuizen said.
Van der Westhuizen's performance bumped him up to the No. 4 ranking in the nation.
