(Daily Texan) (UWIRE) AUSTIN, Texas -- Students covered each other with bright green, yellow and blue powder as they danced along to DJ Envy on the grassy field of the University of Texas's South Mall Sunday in celebration of Holi, the Hindu festival of colors.
Hosted by the Hindu Students Council, the free event celebrated the coming of spring by allowing students to have a color fight with a dyed calcium powder called "rang."
Saumya Verma, the council's external publicity officer, said Holi also celebrates "health over sickness" because the dyed powder is created with various herbal plants.
