China's Super Hybrid Rice to Renew Output Record

CHANGSHA, Apr 09, 2008 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Super hybrid rice is expected to put out 900 kilograms of grains per mu (or 667 square meters) before the end of 2008, according to Yuan Longping High-Tech Agriculture Co., Ltd. (SZSE: 000998), developer of this new kind of rice.

It is now engaged in the third-phase R & D for super hybrid rice and has made some breakthrough, said a Longping High-Tech executive.

The first phase and second-phase super hybrid rice could produce 700 kilograms and 800 kilograms of grains per mu in 2000 and 2004, respectively.
